CHESS
LAB

Train the Brain Like You Train the Body

It is our goal to not only build strong bodies, we build sharp minds.

Our Chess Lab is a unique program for kids and teens (ages 8–17) that teaches strategy, patience, focus, and critical thinking through the timeless game of chess.

Whether your child already loves the game or is just getting started, this lab gives them a chance to think deeply, compete respectfully, and develop mental skills that transfer to the mats and to life.

A black and white photo shows two people playing chess on a portable mat. One person's hand is visible mid-move, reaching for a black piece. The board is captured from a high angle, showing the coordinates along the edges and several pieces in play.

Why Chess?

Chess develops the same traits we value in Jiu-Jitsu:

  • Focus under pressure
  • Pattern recognition
  • Creative problem-solving
  • Confidence in decision-making
  • Discipline without burnout

Jiu-Jitsu + Chess = Well-Rounded Kids
Combining physical training with cognitive challenges teaches kids to:

  • Think ahead under pressure
  • Stay calm when things go sideways
  • Be humble in victory and resilient in defeat

Our goal? To help students think clearly, act deliberately, and develop the discipline to handle both victory and defeat with grace.

The combination of Jiu-Jitsu and chess is brilliant. It keeps my son balanced—physically, mentally, and emotionally.
